Mountain Performance Training Program

A specialized 1-month training program designed to prepare participants physically and mentally for hiking, mountaineering, mountain climbing, trekking, and outdoor adventures.

This program combines functional strength training, endurance development, athletic performance, stability work, and mountain-focused conditioning to create a complete system that helps participants perform better in challenging outdoor environments.

Developed through the partnership between Push Gym and Lost Mountains Adventures, the program bridges the gap between gym fitness and real mountain performance.

Unlike traditional gym classes, this program is specifically designed around the physical demands of mountain adventures, including:
• Long hiking distances
• Elevation gain and steep ascents
• Carrying backpacks and equipment
• Scrambling and technical terrain
• Balance and movement control
• Endurance under fatigue
• Team movement and outdoor performance
• Injury prevention and recovery preparation

Weekly Training Structure

Day 1 — Strength & Stability

Focused on building the physical foundation required for mountain movement and climbing performance.

This session develops:
• Lower body strength
• Core stability
• Pulling strength
• Joint stability
• Balance and coordination
• Injury prevention
• Functional movement patterns

Training may include:
• Squats and lunges
• Step-ups and loaded carries
• Pulling exercises
• Core training
• Stability drills
• Balance work
• Controlled movement training

The goal is to improve strength efficiency, movement control, and overall durability for rough terrain and technical mountain environments.


Day 2 — Endurance & Conditioning

Focused on cardiovascular endurance, stamina, pacing, and long-duration work capacity.

This session prepares participants for the physical demands of extended hikes, summit pushes, and multi-hour mountain efforts.

Training may include:
• Cardio intervals
• Incline walking
• Stair climbing
• Circuit conditioning
• Weighted endurance work
• Rowing or bike conditioning
• Long-duration effort training

Participants will develop:
• Better endurance
• Improved recovery
• Efficient pacing
• Cardiovascular fitness
• Fatigue resistance
• Mental resilience during long efforts

The objective is to help participants sustain performance for longer periods while maintaining energy and movement quality.


Day 3 — Athletic Performance

A more dynamic and energetic session focused on athletic movement, power, conditioning, teamwork, and mountain-style performance challenges.

This session introduces higher-intensity training in a motivating group environment.

Training may include:
• Power exercises
• Explosive movement drills
• Carries and sled work
• Group circuits
• Team challenges
• Functional conditioning
• Competitive finishers
• Agility and movement training

Participants will improve:
• Athleticism
• Coordination
• Speed and power

• Movement confidence under fatigue
